Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Hi,
I have a batch system running on 5 small tables.
There are programs inserting data into a table
and other programs looking for data in the table
and prcessing it.
Before a program starts processing a record it locks
the record with a select for update and primary key
the serial of the record.
Then it Update the record (showing its working on the
record) with where serialnr = .......
This is all done in a transaction
Set Isolation To Dirty Read
Set Lock Mode To Wait 10
Now i get a error 244 and 143,
and onstat -p is
bufwaits lokwaits lockreqs deadlks dltouts ckpwaits compress seqscans
1314046 1296 181525187 15991 0 517 21839 526425
The funny thing is this code has worked for years
starting form SE 4.01 upto Online 7.31 (installed a month a go)
Over the weekend the system start to generate at random this
error.
dbcheck found no error's.
no messages in errorlog
IDS 7.31 UC5
4GL 7.30 UC2
Solaris 2.7 on Hamstation 450
anybody ?

Try the following :
1. Update statistics for the tables concerned (installed 7.31 a month
ago!)
2. Rebuild indexes using "set indexes, constraints for <tabname> disabled;
set indexes, constraints for <tabname> enabled;"
3. In the short term, increase your "lock mode wait"
