Configuring IDS for multiplexing

Hi all, I tried configuring the IDS installed on a Windows 2003 Server to handle multiplexed connections, according to IBM Informix Performance Guide: 1. Set nettype to sqlmux 2. Added to "Options" the value "m=1" in the SQLHOSTS registry, for the corresponding dbservername. 3. According to the document, I need to now set the IFX_SESSION_MUX environment variable. However, I cannot find any documentation regarding the IFX_SESSION_MUX variable. Is this a boolean or any integer value? What about the client configuration? According to the documentation, there shouldn't need to be any special configuration on the client side. But, how would I get a client to explicitly create several sessions on the same connection? Any advice regarding the needed configurations to allow multiplexing would be greatly appreciated! Thank you, Noa
Hello Noa, You can set the IFX_SESSION_MUX environment variable to NULL or any positive integer. NULL = No multiplexing, 1 = Multiplexing enable On Windows platforms, in addition to setting the multiplexing option in the sqlhosts registry you must also define the ifx_session_mux environment variable. If you do not define the ifx_session_mux environment variable, the database server will ignore the multiplexing option and will not multiplex connections. -Sanjit
