There's a single itsy-bitsy reference in INFORMIX-OnLine Dynamic Server - Archive and Backup Guide Version 7.1, under Setting the Tape-Device Parameters, p. 12-6: "A user with one tape device might want to redirect a logical-log backup to a disk file while the tape device is in use for an archive." June Tong told me that, so you *know* it's true. ;) I asked some of the support managers that were hanging around at lunch, and they all chorused "Save my email forever!" So that wouldn't hurt, either, though an email from me hardly constitutes official global support policy.
