IFX on NT Domains in mixed NT/UNIX environment

Running Informix Workgroup Server 7.2 on 2 boxes: Sun Netra/Solaris 2 and Compaq Proliant/NT4sp3. The 'Shared Server Definitions' are on the Compaq. We recently stopped using Netware and started using NT's domains. When the Compaq was switched from WORKGROUP xxx to DOMAIN abc via the Network Control Panel, the Informix Server on the machine stopped loading. The error message was to the effect that the INFORMIXSQLHOSTS parameter was not properly set. Then the Informix Setup could not be reached due to an indication that the current user was not a local administrator. The machine's administrative user and the 'informix' user was tried to no avail. The database server was eventually gotten back in operation only after the machine was set to local operation. One week later the same machine was shut down to add RAM and the same condition manifested itself upon restart. This time it took 3 hours of fiddling with: the IFX Setup's Shared Server Definitions, the Network CP's Domain/Workgroup setting, the Informix Server/Agent/Message services' Startup settings (System Account vs 'informix), and the environment variables. Does anyone have any idea what the rules are for this stuff? Any feedback on other issues to watch out for in a cross-platform environment would be welcomed. -----== Posted via Deja News, The Leader in Internet Discussion ==----- http://www.dejanews.com/rg_mkgrp.xp Create Your Own Free Member Forum
