Linux LVM

People, We have some RHEL3 system running with IDS 9.3 and 9.4, we were thinking of implementing the raw partitions using LVM (as on AIX), and bind the logical volumes to the raw devices. Then using links we will configure the informix instance to use the raw devices. Can someone please give me feedback re the performance of Linux LVM with informix chunks (as todate we always used disk partitions not LVM)? Thanks Kenneth

Hi Ken. It works incredibly great! No performance penalties, no corruption, there's nothing to worry about. Our boxen are all RH7.3 + IDS 9.4 on LVM raw devices and never had a trouble since implementation, about 2 years ago, and we got better performance than RS/6000 boxen by far.
