Depending on the version of IDS you are using it is either just a VERY busy
server (unlikely if it almost always happens) or a bug in onstat that was
fixed in later versions. It usually helps to post platform and version
information.

I have seen this on Sun Solaris 7.?? versions. It happens in the
following 2 cases:
1)Bug hit in an early 7.x release (can't remember exactly) where client
connections had machines with a hostname > 8 characters. For a Windows box
this is the IDENTIFICATION Name of the machine in the TCP/IP setup. This
was fixed in a later release and you could find the problem by looking at
the SMIT tables. I think one of the views had a bad definition. (??
syscbllst???)
2)Running onbar and a logical log is backing up or the backup is hung for
some reason. onbar updates the SMI tables and I have seen this when a
logical log backup is hung or running a long time. Do a ps and grep for the
backup.
Hope this Helps
