If you were the only user on a box, I doubt you'd find much difference between any of the servers. An indexed single-row select out of 40K rows should be instantaneous. The only time you'd see a difference is if you upped the number of users. And there's no clear-cut point when one would win over the other. OnLine 7.30 and IDS 9.2 share the same optimiser technology, SE is a bit older. But then SE has no DBA activity whatsoever.
