Removing an offline chunk
Posted in 2011
I have this chunk that failed the sanity check, so it is offline. I don't care
about the tables/data within the db, as the application that connects to it
creates the tables if the db is found empty, and then populates it with data
from an LDAP pull.
Most suggestions are to restore, but:
1) there is no mirrored chunk
2) This db was never backed as the application did all the leg work to restore
the data.
I've tried
-putting the chunk online
-dropping the db before removing the offending chunk.
Here was the first indication of something going on:
16:39:34 Assert Warning: chunk failed sanity check

16:39:34 Action: For all spaces other than temporary dbspaces, restore the
space
containing the chunk from the archive. If this chunk belongs to a
temporary dbspace and if it is not the only chunk in that dbspace,
then drop and re-create the chunk. Otherwise drop and re-create
the temporary dbspace.
$>onspaces -s nrs -p /opt/vcbDB/nrs_dbs -o 0 -O -y
Verifying physical disk space, please wait ...
Cannot change chunk status.
ISAM error: illegal argument to ISAM function.
and this error comes up when trying to drop the database is the one that
worries me the most:
311: Cannot open system catalog (systables).
155: ISAM error: Primary and Mirror chunks are bad
Is there a way to start fresh, just for that database?
My other option is to create a new db and spaces with a different name and
have the application use the new database name instead of the old one.
Thanks
