You can only restore partial logical log history if you are archiving logs
as they fill using the ALARMPROGRAM to separate disk files, one per log
(actually one per ontape -a execution, but that's almost always one per).
Then you just provide the log files one at a time until the rough point in
time that you want to stop.

That's what I used to do also in one instance where I only did ontape
backups before:
One file per logical log.
The dd alternative is an option that you may want to explore if you are
stuck and got nothing to lose.
I've never done it so not sure if it'll work, but you can measure the size
of your trans.log when
it contains one logical log , two logical logs etc, then truncate your
trans.log to a size where
it'd contain 90 logical logs and try that ..
( provided all your logical logs are the same size ... or even if they are
different just calculate the file size for 90 logs )
