v11 session authorization
Posted in 2008
Topics: Security, Permissions & Auditing
Hello ... I know I can find this in a manual or online somewhere ... but I'm not able to do that right now .. so, hopefully nobody will tell me to read the manual ... In v11 ... with a new database that is created .. informix no longer can switch sessions unless specifically granted that privilege... Can someone please send me the grant statement that the db security admin would grant ... thanks! Peter
Hi,
What do you mean by "switch session" ? Select a different database at
runtime ? Become another user ?
Which environment are you in (dbaccess, application, which programming
language ?)
What is the error message you get on which command ?
Sorry, without a more detailed description of your problem we cannot
help you !
Marcus

dbaccess....
set session authorization to 'username';
In v11 with a new database this privilege has to be granted by the
dbsecadm ... just don't remember the grant statement....

As dbsecadm one needs to execute
GRANT SETSESSIONAUTH ON lynette, manoj TO sam;
and then sam can assume the identity of lynette or manoj by using set
session authorization statement
