" Is there a whole new class of dumbshits out there that don't know what a database is? " Yes. Grads. What is the difference between a database and a data server? A database server is SQL based. A data server could be anything. Something that stores data and has an API to access it. Revision control systems store data and I could create something that listens to a network sockets and response to requests by giving you access to SCCS files E.g. give me v1.7 of file /u/dave/fuckme.c That is not a database server but does supply data. "Put XPS and IDS out for trial and beta JUST LIKE DB2. DOWNLOAD! " IDS is there. Hardly anyone uses XPS. 11 cusomers or so worldwide? You can always ask for XPS. If you a doing something large enough to need XPS there then would you really just download it rather than getting a CD from IBM? Just ask for it you fucking moron. The website will get updated. That takes time. IBM is not a small company and the website is not managed by one person. There are different teams for different areas even if it appears as one to a user. "Spatialtemporal? embeddability? Are these even words? " Yeah. I understand them fine. Spatial = spatial datablade Temporal = timeseries embeddability = ability to embed in something else. Learn English you fucking moron. "Rolling their eyes at this one. " Yeah right let see what happens and help IBM get it right I see 2 products from that page IDS = Informix OLTP/embedded DB2 = DB2 Datawarehouse etc. IMS = I am an IMS fanboy and will never leave it. Anyway is IMS mainframe? WORLD DOMINATION for Informix. A bit of fighting spriit. Someone with some get up and go. And the moment we get them here we knock them down. Like that helps. "Every time I get up my friends smack me in the mouth" Wonder why IBM people give up? You are the reason. Think about that. Fuckin idiot.
David, I gotta hand it to you, you get the best drugs and booze, and never, never, under any circumstances, use a spell checker. This is consistency that is to be admired. Your writing style is all YOU, and that too is admirable. Someday I'll buy you a drink. In the meantime, direct your anger at the idiots that have let us all down, and then made excuses for their stupidity. Their mistakes and lack of concern for Informix affected real people with real lives and family. That is what you should be angry about, just as I am. We put skin in the game, they took care of themselves at our expense. Think about that, connect with it, and vent to IBM, not me. Don't forget about the legacy of fools that got things the way they are today, and consider that things are not going to change, it will always be the way it is, and there's nothing anyone can do about it, ever. There will be more to come, just watch, it will be more of the same. And you will have c.d.i. for more hours of entertainment and banter. ;-) david@smooth1.co.uk wrote: > " Is there a whole new class of dumbshits out there that don't know > what a database is? Thanks for the offer of the drink. Which country are you in? I will not "vent" to IBM any more. I will act in a constructive manner to make things change. Eric's list of marketing requirements is a better way to go. Then we can get IBM a list of requirements that they can work with. One clear list that IBM has to work with. No arguments or shouting just a clear list.
