We use a set of rules against each column to be indexed, calling a DBP to break the string down and insert rows into a keyword table and into a keyword-record table. The table is searched using a set of three single-column temporary tables to store the result set for the keyword and the latest combined result set. So far the system allows single or truncated keywords to be entered and 'AND'ed together. Performance on our 600,000 title database is acceptable on sensible searches, but slows down rather on words like 'JOURNAL' - 8s. This should improve on OI1.2 using in memory temporary tables.
