RE: Documentation, Help files, Reference materials where?

The easiest answer is: Answers OnLine Log on to the Informix website (http://www.informix.com), and follow the links for Online Documentation then Answers Online. The manuals are all there. Whatever you find that is a "keeper" for you, save it to your hard disk. Good luck! -----Original Message----- From: newswest.sybase.com [mailto:spamoff_fishburn@sybase.com] Sent: Friday, October 01, 1999 3:57 PM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Documentation, Help files, Reference materials where? NT, Informix Replication Server 7.3.1 I am not sure what version the actual database is, I assume it is also 7.3.1 I just installed Informix and don't want to lug around manuals. I am looking for Help files that will take me through everything. Installation, configuration, getting started, reference manual. Looking in the Folder it installed in the Start Menu, it lists lots and lots of release notes, but it does not have any icons for an actual manual that I can read from cover to cover (so to speak): Documentation Notes.lnk IECC Console.lnk IECC Document Notes.lnk IECC Release Notes.lnk IECC Server Agent Release Notes.lnk IECC Server Agent Unix Release Notes.lnk Informix Connect Document Notes.lnk Informix Connect Release Notes.lnk INFORMIX-CLI Document Notes.lnk INFORMIX-CLI Release Notes.lnk Intersolv 3 Document Notes.lnk Intersolv 3 Release Notes.lnk Release Notes.lnk I can't find the reference manual to look up commands like: create table create index How to create triggers and stored procedures, load data and so on. I started the IECC Console but it only has help on it. The SQL Editor 3.0.1 and Table Editor 3.0.1 That was a little better, but nothing shows me actual syntax I can use. Can someone point me to a file to begin. I am very familiar with databases having worked with Sybase, IBM, Microsoft and Oracle. Basically I am trying to port an application over and am really looking for reference materials on creating the same functionality using Informix stuff. Microsofts TSQL syntax is similar to Sybase's and Oracle is different, IBM you have to use C or Java. I want to find the same information out about Informix. Hopefully the Help files will have examples I can cut and paste from to speed things up. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. -- David Fishburn
