Hello. I am interested in developing web-based solutions with my Informix IDS7.32UC2. I have a Microsoft IIS server, with ASP-pages, and the 1st solution could be the creation of ASP pages with ODBC-connectivity to Informix. But I suppose this is not a very secure environment, for what I would like to hear your suggestions about this, and other scenarios of implementation. Another solution might be buying IDS2000 with Web Datablade, but this is an expensive option, and for the moment I do not want to migrate from IDS7.32. Thanks in advance. jhernandez@geuropa.com
What si the IDS 7.32 ? I've never heard about 7.3x greater then 7.31. Juan Manuel Hernбndez del Olmo wrote: > Hello. > > I am interested in developing web-based solutions with my Informix IDS7.32UC2. Hi Juan Manuel, If you are interested in a more secure/portable/scalable solution than MS ASP pages then you could look into using Java Server Pages (JSP). You can get a free opensource JSP/Servlet engine from either the Apache project http://jakarta.apache.com or pretty much the same thing with some additional bells and whistles (e.g. load balancing) from Enhyrda/Lutris at http://www.enhydra.org. You can use both these in conjunction with Informix JDBC 2.11 (provides connection pooling etc.) which is also free from http://www.intraware.com/informix. I think you can also use both JSP/Servlet products with IIS - or you could use Apache of course. If you are interested in doing this and are looking for an IDE, then you can also get a excellent free IDE from either Sun (Forte for Java) or Borland (JBuilder Foundation) which both provide support for JSP development at some level.
