Guys (particularly IBMers)- Since Apple is porting its OS to Intel processors and since Mac OS is really just a GUI sitting on top of UNIX... It shouldn't be much of a stretch to take the Linux port of IDS and create a Mac port. Is there a snowball's chance in Hades that IBM would do it? It would open up a whole new server environment for a minimal investment. --EEM > -----Original Message----- > From: Paul Watson [mailto:paul@oninit.com] > Sent: Monday, January 16, 2006 10:48 AM > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: Re: IDS cluster > > Dirk Moolman wrote: > > > My company is talking about moving IDS on SUN, to IDS on Linux - and > > also clustering the servers. > > > > The only failover I know (on the Informix side), is ER and HDR. Should be pretty easy. In fact we ported few applications [some easy ones and some complicated ones] and pretty easy to make it work on Max OS from Linux - of course we have few big hurdles but after that it is pretty smooth to. Usually find that money talks Bring a large enough amount of revenue to IBM dependant on the port being available and its likely it would happen. I wouldn't know what "large enough" was
