Last time as I had wrote I got following alarm :
Mon Jun 12 11:40:49 PDT 2000
Severity : 3
OnLine Initialization failure.
WARNING! Physical Log size 40960 is too small. Physical Log overflows may
occur during peak activity. Recommended minimum Physical Log size is 20
times maximum concurrent user threads.
Some related parameters are as follows :
NETTYPE ipcshm,1,64,CPU
NETTYPE soctcp,2,128,NET
PHYSFILE 40960
CLEANERS 65
LRUS 65
CKPTINTVL 300
LRU_MAX_DIRTY 3
LRU_MIN_DIRTY 1
As Art had written that change in the NETTYPE parameter can trigger this
alarm. Its true. I had changed NETTYPE parameter.
Old values for NETTYPE parameter were :
NETTYPE ipcshm,1,64,NET
NETTYPE soctcp,2,128,CPU
But still do you feel my Physical log is small. As per performance guide the
formulla for physical log is :
PHYSFILE = (connections * 20 * pagesize) / 1024
Why do I get this alarm?
Thanks in advance for all replies.

is this pagesize in bytes or k?
is the PHYSFILE in bytes or K?
Assuming pagesize is bytes, physfile is k and a 2k page size we get
p=(c*20*2048)/1024
p = 40960c/1024
p = 40c
40960 = 40c
c = 40960/40 i.e. 1024
The engine thinks you will need 1024 connections ??!!
