Is there a way to reset the logical log number (e.g., 281987 -> 1) in Informix Dynamic Server without totally reinstalling the database? Thanks. Jon

This is the fantastic sort of help I've come to expect from this newgroup
(no offense Art S. Kagel - you're the greatest).
I have three appropriate responses to Vladdy boy's wonderfully helpful
response:
1) Why not?
2) Because.
3) Why does he care why?
and one fairly safe assumption:
1) He doesn't know how, anyway. (Why don't you prove me wrong?)
Let's continue this discussion in an alt.philosophy newsgroup.
Anyway, I meant resetting uniqid, not log number (see onstat -l).
Have a nice day, Dracula. :-)

No there is no way to do this. I am also curious as to why you need to do this though? Go easy on Vlad, no armies have marched on his castle in eons. Art S. Kagel
