I'm trying to find a 4GL function that operates in the same way as REPLACE in 7.30 SQL. i.e. searches a given string for a substring and replaces it with something else. Any help, much appreciated

You can write your own, of course, in either C or I4GL. C will be faster but requires a C compiler and possibly custom runners. Try the IIUG software archive; it would be surprising if there wasn't something there. I have such code which can be added if necessary. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.62 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
