Re: onbar & ontape question
Posted in 2000
I'm using this strategy because I have concerns about my level 0 archive via onbar. I use
archecker to validate my archive and I get error messages. I have IDS 7.3.UC5 on Solaris
2.5.1. I took the backup & recovery class and they even told me there was a bug with onbar in
that particular version of IDS running on Solaris 2.5.1.(they said the error messages were
errant that pertained to stream pipes or something like that). However, our other DBA has told
me that he's done a recovery before and it worked just fine. So on the one hand I have someone
in house that says the backup & recovery procedures work, but on the other hand I have the
informix server telling me my archive is bad. So I've been doing a weekly ontape archive just
for secondary measures.

Whenever someone asks me to define love, I usually think for a minute, then I spin around and
pin the guy's arm behind his back. NOW who's asking the questions?
