IDS on Mandrake 2.2

Hi, I installed IDS 7.3 (the CD from the Informix Conference) on my Mandrake 2.2.9-19mdk Linux. I cannot get soc connections working! I do have entries in sqlhosts, /etc/services, DSERVERBALIASES parameter is set properly etc. The only anomaly I noticed is that onstat -g glo output shows that soc part of oninit gains a lots of CPU time! At least with that version of Informix, I found you needed the kernel to be 2.2.10 before network connections would work. That was using Caldera OpenLinux 2.2.
