Clipper -> INFORMIX

Informix's development tools, ESQL/C, 4GL, etc, come with sample code and the manuals walk one through typical coding snippets. In addition for 4GL there is a tutorial manual, Informix 4GL by Example, which walks one through a complete application. Informix manuals are excellent and are available for browsing or download from the Informix WEB site at www.informix.com/answers or on CD ROM delivered with other products or purchasable separately for a rather small fee. Beyond this you will find much example code on the IIUG WEB Site in the Software Repository. Is Informix the right followup to Clipper? Depends on the project I'd say. I am very big on using the right tool for the job, though like everyone else I tend to reach for my favorites first and Informix is definitely one of those. Art S.
