Thank you. _______________________________________________________________ I'm going to check with Informix support about this, but I thought I'd see if anyone has first-hand experience with this scenario. We're planning on upgrading to HP-UX 11.0, and we'd like to upgrade to a 64-bit version of IDS 7.31. However, because no one wants to recompile all of our 4GL's, we'd like to stay with our current 32-bit version (7.20.UD6). Will this cause a problem? Has anyone out there done this before? TIA Colleen
My answers would be Probably, Maybe, Shouldn't and YES DEFINITELY Probably - Probably wouldn't try it myself Maybe - Maybe Informix has a better answer but... Shouldn't - Shouldn't be much of a problem if the system isn't used much YES DEFINITELY - Yes the System will definitely crash at the worst possible time in the middle of your most complex operations. Seriously, I would check with Informix first thing...32 bit this vs 64 bit that makes me nervous. If you need someone to log on and recompile your 4ges for you let me know. Given that you have up-to-date SCCS or similar, up-to-date MAKEFILES and either Make or NMake facilities it's really not that hard. Rob Vorbroker Vorbroker Consulting, Inc. Colleen M.
