Help!!! We're running Informix 4.10.UE3 OnLine on an IBM RS/6000 Model 530H under AIX V 3.2.2 (system has 192 MB RAM, 6 GB disk). For the past couple of days, our application had been getting an (infrequent) I/O read error, to the effect that expected return from a read() was 4096, whereas the actual return was -1. The ISAM error was that it couldn't read system control information, the index was corrupt. We ran tbcheck -ci and it ran through fine. Last nite, however, we ran into a rather severe problem. We were trying to add a new chunk to the dbspace, and were bringing Informix down. In the process of bringing it back up (to quiescent) mode, we encountered: Bad Primary Chunk: '/d2/informix/ldatadbs' tbinit: fatal error initializing shared memory We can no longer get Informix up and running. We do have a very recent Level 0 Archive (Thurs. nite), but we were hoping not to lose any of the entry from Friday :-). BTW, our database is not "cooked", but resides in its own LV as a raw device. Question: Are there any tools available to look at the raw spaces, and maybe fix whatever is causing the problem? I've checked the Admin manual, which says that tbcheck will read from the tbconfig file if shared memory is not initialized, but it currently responds only with the statement that shared memory is not initialized. Am I doing something wrong? I am using the cmd the exact same way as I've entered it before (tbcheck -ci <database>). Any other hints????? -Ashu Ashu Tiwary atiwary@lonestar.utsa.edu
