RE: How to get a faster retrun from a big query?

PDQ helps for big queries like this, but I've also managed to simply many large queries by using temp tables like you mentioned. If you can get the data out quickly (have indexes), and the temp tables aren't too big, try that. We've brought report down from hours to minutes using this principle. And look into PDQ. Just be careful - you can't have to many people / sessions using PDQ, as you only have so much resources for PDQ. I have a long query that needs to join 10+ tables. It will take at least 4 minutes to get the result. The runtime will increase as the tables in the query grow bigger. Is there anyways to make the runtime shorter? Would making temp tables and joining those tables help? Thanks in advance. ________________________________ << ella for Spam Control >> has removed 1439 Spam messages and set aside 642 Newsletters for me You can use it too - and it's FREE! www.ellaforspam.com sending to informix-list
