there is only one dumb question and that is the one which is not

Don't!!!!!!!! if a disk is broken, then in your system reserved pages
the chunk is marked as down.
the system reserverd pages are located in your rootdbs. NOT in the
dbspace your mucking around with.
So if you swap links then the primary will still be offline and your
mirror would be online...
pointing to a broken disk YIKES.
this can cause huge problems (inconsistentcy for one!!!!!!!) if you
are lucky the engine will detect this and bring down
the mirror as well. This will cause a restore...!!!!!!!!!
So brink down say primary (onspaces...)
do not shut the engine!!!!!!
relink the primary to a new chunk
bring up the primary (onspaces....)
done
(if you do not need mirror, you can get rid of that after this.)
