Borland Dbi functions and SQL Servers through ODBC

This might be a simple problem, but it seems to be impossible without the proper documentation. Here it is: The BDE Borland Dbi functions work just fine in accessing records: DbiOpenTable DbiGetNextRecord DbiGetPreviousRecord DbiQExecDirect DbiSetToKey DbiSwithIndex etc. All of those functions do exactly what they should do. However the following functions: DbiModifyRecord DbiInsertRecord NEVER WORK and this one DbiDeleteRecord ONLY WORKS APPARENTLY AT RANDOM. DbiModifyRecord always returns that the "Edit function could not be completed because another user changed the record". DbiInsertRecord Always reports a false Key Violation. We know for sure that we are not trying to insert a record with a duplicate key, and we keep on getting the same response. If any of you out there have any idea of why this is happening, your help and advise will be greatly appreciated.
