Even on the Sequent a few things are pretty shaky with v7.x -- for instance re-indexing a fragmented table. Unless you are dealing with LARGE databases (terrabyte range), you probably don't even want to consider v7.x yet. Informix is sending us new releases of v7.x more than once a month, while this shows that they are working hard to support their product, it also shows that the product is not yet mature. If 5.x is serving your needs adequately, stick with it a while longer. ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Re: online engine Author: mbarkah@slate.mines.colorado.edu (Ade Barkah) at COMVRIMAIL Date: 11/29/94 4:25 PM Adel Al-jouhar (adel@q8petroleum.com.kw) wrote: : Hi Informix'rs, : Is it worth 2 upgrade from 5.x -- 6.x or : from 5.x -- 7.x right away.. Unless you're running sequents, are you sure that 7.x is stable enough for you ? it's still rather "new". If you don't need all the new features of 7, and you must upgrade from 5.x, go to 6. Do you really need to upgrade to begin with ? -Ade Barkah
