Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Not a technical thread at all: it's the tail end of an Oracle-vs-Informix/DB2-vs-SQL Server market-share argument. Posters bicker over IDC database revenue figures, with one claiming Microsoft's numbers are inflated by embedded/bundled copies and that Oracle and IBM each cite statistics selectively. No technical problem is posed and no resolution is reached; the exchange degenerates into personal jabs before participants call for an end to the flame war and trade jokes. Nothing of practical use.
Auto-generated by DrWatson from the posts below — may be imperfect; read the full thread.

Hyperbole is what they are selling ... not all they are selling ... but a lot of what they are selling.
You should be careful what you buy.

U seem to know everthing. I said the figures were from IDC. The same
IDC figures, which Oracle marketing quote shamelessly when it
suits them. BTW isn't it true for everyone. Per Oracle Web site,
most of IBM's database revenue is coming from declining market share products,
like DB2 on Mainframe, AS400 and only Oracle's market share is
gaining. OTOH IBM claims that of the past 10 Qs, Oracle showed
a declining trend in database sales in 9Qs.

With no intention to offend either Obnoxio or Mark ... I've said my
piece on marketing.
I'll stand by it. MS openly admits to their employees, at least, that
their numbers include
embedded implementations.

OK - is this the end of it now?
We've avoided a cross-newsgroup flame war of a very pointless dick-slapping
battle between different engine fans, but it appears we've hit a bit of a
personal attack war.
Deep breath....

He'd be the brother of Tasha Slapper then?
