Where do errors go when archive fails?

When an archive fails, is this the only thing that happens? In our message log, I am seeing: Archive on rootdbs,physdbs,logdbs1,logdbs2,appdbs2 ABORTED. Aborted by client. I "think" our backup volume is running out of space and causing the backup to fail. Are there any other logs that tell me the reason? I was hoping to see somewhere that space ran out... We have our backup ontape command in a cron. It is coming back successful as this backup runs for 6 minutes and the cron does its thing as if there hasn't been an issue.

I might be a good idea that if an alert is generated in case of an error/warning logged in message log (whether it is about "space full" or system crash
