Emilio,
if I understood this correctly, you have letters with accents in your
character set (Espaniol?) and the ASCII values that represent these
characters are in the database. I don't know if these ASCII values are
in the 32-96 range but I am nearly certain the ASCII values do not match
the english "word" you appear to be looking for.
I doubt that any database engine would give you anything for your query.
This may require an extra field with the ASCII representations of the
same letters without the accents and then you query on that extra field.
(Sounds awful and unrelational but it could sove your problem.)
