I downloaded this package from the net, unzipped it, found that there is a single file called csdk230uc11_linux.rpm. I then did (having setup all the environment variables) rpm -ivh csdk230uc11_linux.rpm it was instantly aborted with the messages: This package need libifgls.so This package need libifglx.so How can I get over this? Thank you Jonathan. I don't belong to most of big companies, and I'm not one of hotels, airlines or Microsoft, but I do have a further question. How do I control the destination directory used by either the rpm program or the archive csdk230uc11_linux? Followed the instructions for installation, I have all the environment variables set. When I issued the command "rpm -ivh --nodeps csdk230uc11_linux.rpm", I was in the INFORMIXDIR which is /opt/informix/se. After the command finished successfully, the client sdk files were found under /opt/informix, which is one directory up from my working directory. I really want everything under /opt/informix/se. Moving them by hand may not be a good strategy, since it will mess up the rpm records. Do you have suggestions? You need the --relocate or --prefix directive (depends on which version of RPM you are using) to change the installation directory from /opt/informix to your desired installation directory, e.g. --prefix=$INFORMIXDIR (RPM 2.x) or --relocate /opt/informix=$INFORMIXDIR (RPM 3.x) You might want to peek at the Tips and Techniques article "Linux RPM Packaging for Informix Products" at: http://www.informix.com/idn-secure/Linux/WebPages/rpm.html -- Alan Denney yosemite at accesscom.com "I must say that I was really happy to see a _Linux_for_Dummies_ (published).
