Oleh Holynskyj wanted to script past ontape's 'mount tape and press return' prompt for ontape -s -L 0 on AIX 4.3; redirecting a file did not work. Nir Levy suggested piping echo into ontape, which worked for him on IDS 7.24. Maxine E. Sarjeant gave an echo of newline, 0, newline strings piped in. Clifton M. Bean pointed to scripts in the IIUG FAQ.

Hi Folks:
I was hoping to get some guidance on trying to script past the
annoying "please mount tape and press return to contune..." message
after entering:
ontape -s -L 0
I tryed to pipe in a carriage return by placing it in another file and
entering:
ontape -s -L 0 < ontape.input
I must be placing the wrong code in the input file because ontape
still stops and asks for a tape. I am trying to do this on an RS/6000
running AIX 4.3.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Oleh

Try the scripts listed in the http://www.iiug.org website, within the FAQ
(Frequently Asked Questions) area.
Take care.
