But having done the Monday track that Mike Segal referred to, I can say I'm truly <positively> shocked at the beginnings of a new Informix. As end-users, we see some glaring deficiencies in Informix, however those closest to the action cannot see all that we see, and may never see things as we do. But they have been brave enough to simply say, "Tell us what you want". To continue to rant at this point, is indeed, illogical. I found it increasingly difficult to rant as the conference went on. The Informix people killed me with kindness. :-) What a great bunch. They just need for everyone to see this. Maybe eliminating the car salesmen, letting us buy products directly off the web, and working directly with Informix developers and customer support are the keys. :-) ( Yes, I know contact is important, but the car salesmen HAVE to go. Guess what you'd replace them with. ) Contact Carlton Doe, who is now leading the charge for advocacy, submit your case, and let's give Informix the chance to follow through. When they fall down, we'll be there to encourage them. I know I will. :-) BTW, speaking of advocacy, I am building a mailing list of folks interested in the Linux thread. Somehow we're going to form a SIG, or at least a mailing list to form up a business case. If you want to get in on it, please contact me. Momentum is the key. I will be moving forward with this fairly quickly, and will do my best with available help. We will provide some kind of periodic reporting to c.d.i., per Carltons' suggestion. So, now is the time. Your contribution and support will make the difference. ( Linux was the #1 requested item on the survey Carlton put out. ) This week-end I'll hopefully post some pictures of the conference as soon as I find a scanner.
