I'm using the ISM, with the pool Default for logs and data. Now I want to change the pool, because I got a tape device. I have changed the entry in the onconfig file ISM_DATA_POOL from Default to ISMData, restarted informix, shutdown ism and restarted it, but when i want to use the pool with the command ism_op -label /dev/rmt/0 -volume MyData -pool ISMData, i get the message: Invalid pool name 'ISMData'. What is wrong?
If I'm not mistaken, the ISMData pool is used by ISM to store certain critical information. So, one must always have such a pool. Try setting up a disk area for it.
