problems with INFORMIX-STAR

Hi, I intended to use INFORMIX-STAR to work with remote databases. Everything works fine, if network works fine. But the way it reacts to network failures makes it almost impossible for real use. The connection to remote sqlexecd is established at the time when first command that works with remote db query is executed. Connection remains open (those are only my observations). The only way to close the connection i found is CLOSE DATABASE. The problem is when i simulate network failure (by setting network interface down) and then do a command that works with remote DB. I get an error (-908 Cannot contact to remote database). So far it is ok. But after network inteface goes up, the connection is reestablished imediately, and then all successive commands establish new connection, but they never succeed. CLOSE DATABASE doesnt close these connections, and what is worse, the command doesnt end. It simply hangs, not even it ends on time-out. I observed that after the networks becomes operational again, the connection is created and sqlexecd spawns another copy of itself. When i kill the copy, the operation is correct again (or it seems). Has any1 else observed similar behaviour ? Is there any list of known Informix bugs available ? Would u please also CC: to kundrat@hron.ef.tuke.sk since our news feed is quite delayed ..
