Thanks for the response, I am looking at the Infomix PDF doc on sql syntax and it states: "SIZE: The number of bytes in the char or nchar column: you must specify an integer value between 1 and 32,767 bytes inclusive." Hence I don't see how char(2500) is illeagal cause its way below 32K. It is odd how i can do a successful column creation but when I insert into it it gives -280 that the string exceeeds 256 bytes. Any ideas?
