Hello all, Has anybody used the Informix Archecker tool for checking the intergrity of the archives? Is it useful? Is it reliable? Can anyone please give the steps for using it? Does it work for all Informix/AIX versions? Is it documented anywhere? Thanks a lot in advance for you help. yes, I've used archecker to validate my ontape and onbar archives. Is it useful
or reliable? Hmm, it does add an extra layer of assurance that my archive went
well. Unless you're manually testing your archives by restoring them onto a
test instance, how do you really know if your archive last night went well.
Archecker is just a way to give you some peace of mind till the time you
actually have to restore your production instance. I believe the earliest
version of Informix it comes with is the 7.x ones, but I could be wrong. If you
have a version later than 7, you're good to go.
The documentation is in the Backup/Restore manual that came with taking the
class. But if you need steps, I can give you a more detailed explanation off
line.
