I've forgotten where I was going on this one... :-)
Still, let's see:
(Can you resend these onstats after "normal" usage, too?)

I think you might need some more buffers.

Hmmm. Have you upgraded recently from 7.2x?

I would rather go for 60 x 2000, but that's got nothing to do with your
problem.
>RESIDENT 0 # Forced residency flag (Yes = 1, No = 0)
Try setting to 1.
>BUFFERS 7000 # Maximum number of shared buffers
You *definitely* need more buffers. Try 32000
>PHYSBUFF 32 # Physical log buffer size (Kbytes)
>LOGBUFF 32 # Logical log buffer size (Kbytes)
You might tweak these too, but that's also got nothing to do with this
problem. :-)
>CLEANERS 2 # Number of buffer cleaner processes
Try 9. But that's got nothing to do with this problem.

I think you have something when you asked if there was a recent upgrade. I
would check into bug 115327. The easiest way to tell if you have run into
this bug is to monitor "onstat -P | tail" and see if the Btree % is high.
There
have been many emails about the different way to work around this, but
getting the fix should do the trick. I believe this went into 7.31.UC4
and 7.30.UC10.
Hope this helps,
