Certainly the most convenient thing to do. If you don't mind waiting for a
while for 300GB to come over and get inserted, all through the normal
buffers. While you could certainly run those in parallel, I will bet .02
cents that it takes on the order of 6-12 days to run. 300GB using the pipe
approach is a little faster (we've done something similar in about 12 hours
here - of course it depends on network performance).
The expert I was going to ask is gone for a week. So you've got at least 7
days. ;-)
I personally don't remember the bit about creating the named pipes across
the network, the rest of is is easy. (HPL to pipe, HPL from pipe, or
ploader depending ...).

If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably
worth it.
Thanks for all of the input. I have managed some time this weekend to
try some of the suggestions out. I let you all know how it works out.
