Please tell me an installation |> procedure. Well, here it is in a nutshell. It is assumed that you already have a supported optical subsystem in hand(e.g. Plexus DM). 1. Login as root. 2. Load the media into the tape drive or whatever 3. cd $INFORMIXDIR 4. mkdir optical; cd optical 5. tar or cpio (whichever is apropos) the contents of the tape into this directory 6. Install the optical subsystem support software (this comes from another vendor, such as Plexus) Make sure that there is a library with the above called libop.a, and use a link or make a copy in $INFORMIXDIR/optical/oplib (which will be there after step 5 above). 7. in the optical directory, run ./opticallink That will do all the linking needed. Be sure you are running it as root. 8. Go back to $INFORMIXDIR and run installonline, just as you did when you originally installed it on the machine (the linking of Optical will replace the executables so they will no longer be branded with the serial #, thus the need to run the online install script again). Note: you do not reload OnLine from tape, just rerun the script. You will need your serial # and key. If you want, I can fax you the installation instuctions from the manual. Email your fax # to davek@informix.com. You should contact your sales person to get a real copy of the manual.
