Re: Informix Directions

Poor sole. Working for such a crappy, totaly stupid management. And with your superb skills. Just for the record, 4j is the one product in the world that virtually noone should use for any purpose. It's a dead end and nothing but a dead end. If you plan for an end of course a dead end product can be usefull for a short while, but... If you did want to do what 4j can do for you there are probably even better products arround for the purpose. However I do not want to advertise them, or even suggest where to go for information, as I think it's a bad idea to try to keep life in a product in the way these people suggest. Why don't you give me a call. May be we could arrange something that would be better for you? Mail me with your phone number or you will get one from me. This does however show something that might be of interest to the Informix marketing and sales people. I do however believe they try to do this, but aren't too successfull. 4j do have mindshare. Not because anyone knows anything about the product or it's capabilites. Few do. It's because they piggyback on the MS Windows mindshare and use that to sell to management who don't realy know what they are doing. These managers would however not get this idea unless there where a lot of people knowing about and wanting the GUI thing, and MS Windows in particular. That's more of the lesson Informix needs to learn then the direct lesson of selling to management. That mind share does come through developers and VAR's to a large extent in the dbms part of the market.
