Hi
In order to run ALTER INDEX or ALTER FRAGMENT statement,
Informix needs sufficient disk space to complete these operations.
How can i make sure that i have sufficient free space before starting any
operation?
I have a table (10 million rows!) with fragments in dbsp1 and dbsp2
(expression).
dbsp1 is 95% full and dbsp2 is 50% full. In order to convert this
fragmentation to round robin, do i need to add some more chunks to
dbsp1 to create some space before running ALTER FRAGMENT?
Thanks in advance.

run oncheck -pt for the table and determine the total number of pages
taken up by the table. Now redivide in to the new dbspaces to get
the number of pages needed in each since ROUND ROBIN will be about
even in page use on all fragments. Now run onstat -d and add up the
free space in each chunk in each dbspace (or get and run my dbsavail
script and/or program to do it for you) and add chunks where needed.
