After installing IDS2000 on Linux, how do you create the initial chunks? i.e. /dev/online_root Thanks, jpb John Butzek Entertainment Partners 818 955 6254

Just in case you did not see my answer to the three other nearly identical postings today: RTFM - See the Administrator's Guide available from: www.informix.com/answers. The name /dev/online_root is just an example, hence the name of the file you are looking at, onconfig.std, it is just a typical example onconfig file which you have to edit and copy to fit your needs. You just specify a file or disk partition (preferably a symbolic link to one actually) and replace it's path as the value of the ROOTPATH parameter in the ONCONFIG file. First copy it to onconfig.<servername> so you can oneday have a second instance and not get confused. Then read the manual and/or peruse the IIUG Archive of this group (at www.iiug.org) looking for a posting in May or early June where I laid the whole procedure down for someone. Then if you have specific questions ask them here and we'll be VERY helpful. Art S. Kagel
