I don't understand what systable.owner this column is used for ? In my database, there are many different owner names include empty character . It depend on whom created this tables, but what about the empty space come from ? Any influence on this column 'systable.owner' ? Can I modify this column By issue " update systables set ownere='xxxxx' "?

Joe, Which version of DB2 are you talking about and what is the exact table name. In DB2 for LUW SYSIBM.SYSTABLES is really none of your business. You should be looking at SYSCAT.TABLES The owner of a table is typically the definer of the table. But ownership can be transfered. I'm not clear how you could see an empty owner unless you went through great lengths to define a login " " Cheers Serge -- Serge Rielau SQL Architect DB2 for LUW IBM Toronto Lab

(I suppose). The column "owner" defines who created the table. It's abosulutely important for several reasons (permissions rights mainly). You CANNOT change the owner by doing an update on systables. Unfortunately the only way to change the owner is by recreating the table. Doing that update is completely unsupported and you'll probably get your database corrupted. The space in the owner is used in a few system tables. Don't worry about it.
