In standard ISQL/ACE, you cannot write SELECT statements in the FORMAT section. IF ((your SELECT statement returns a single value) AND (your custom ACE runner has a suitable ESQL/C function)) THEN BEGIN You could write a function call in the FORMAT section of the report which passed in a string containing a SELECT statement and collected the return value. END However, you could always write a string containing a SELECT statement in the body of any report. It's cheating slightly to claim that a string containing a SELECT statement is a SELECT statement. Syntactically, strings are very different from executable SELECT statements. -- Yours, Jonathan Leffler (Jonathan.Leffler@Informix.com) #include <disclaimer.h> Guardian of DBD::Informix v1.00.PC1 -- http://www.perl.com/CPAN "I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it!"
