Informix Database Level 0 Backup Problem

I running on-line informix 5.8 on HP 10.2 machine. The database is about 8 GIG in size , backup is done on a 12 GIG tape drive and 120m dat tapes are used and these are 4 GIG tapes. My problem is the time my backup is taking. When the database is in quiescent mode, it takes 1 hr 30 min to do level 0 backup on two tapes so one has to wait to change the tape. When users are working it takes 3 hrs but there has to be someone to change the tape. How then can I use one tape and make the backup fast. The archive tape parameters are as follows.
