I am getting multiple virtual segments as below. I think the onconfig file is OK. I thought that "M" class was for IPCSHM communications, not virtural shared memory segments. Dale, Your segments are not virtual segments. They are message segments. That is, You have much more shared memory connections than specified (or not specified and defaulted) by the NETTYPE parameter of Your $ONCONFIG Please, configure NETTYPE properly. The multiple class "M" segments are not virtual memory segments but message segments. These are the message buffers that shared memory uses. This portion of shared memory is used for communication between your client applications and the database server. Check your sqlhosts file; we don't use shared memory connections here, but if I remember correctly, there will be one message segment per shared memory connection. Stephanie Peltier U. S. Dale; Check your onconfig (I didn't see it attached) for a NETTYPE parameter for 'ipcshm'. The second parameter (e.g. "NETTYPE ipcshm,7,100,NET" or something similar), in this case the "7", specifies the number of poll threads for that communications protocol. For an ipcshm type connection, the number of poll threads is also the number of message segments the engine will create, thereby showing 7 shared memory segments for class "M". Because of the size of the segments, I'm guessing you have a lot of poll threads configured and not very many users per poll thread (parameter #3, in this case the '100') configured. You might consider 100-150 users per poll thread for SHM connections. HTH...
