Allocate the new disk to a logical volume group called, say, ifx.
Use lvcreate -l 500 ifx to create four 2GByte logical volumes.
ln -s /dev/vgifx/rlvol1 chunk1
.
.
ln -s /dev/vgifx/rlvol4 chunk4
As simple as that!

When you go to allocate these new chunks to dbspaces in Informix,
make sure the allocation is done *across* the disks and not *down*
the disks.
Informix allocates page cleaners in chunk# order. Allocating across
the disks gives you parallelism and better performance.
