Limit database connections

Is there a way to limit the number of connections to the Informix database? I know Informix works on the trust system as far as the number of licenses, but I would like to limit it on my end. I am running IDS 7.3.1 UC2A on a RS/6000 AIX 4.2.1 Any ideas would be helpful. Thank You!

I tried to set the NETTYPE parameter in the ONCONFIG file on a test machine,and I couldn't get it to work. I set it #users to 2 and it still let the third user connect. I want it to be a hard limit.
