HELP: Informix don't make checkpoints

I now that we have old versions but we didn't have much problems until last few days. OS is AIX4.1 and Informix is 7.20 UC2 WGS. Here is the problem: There is normal user activiti on the system but after some time I notice that Informix is not doing checkpoints any more. I am apsolutly sure that there are some UPDATES/INSERTS/DELETS. After some time Infomrix becomes BLOCKED. There are no user in critical section, there are no Archive in progress and nothing happening - no reading no writings. This is happening more often in last few days. I have two Assertions Fails this week - never before. Is it possible that I have problems with hardware or it is bug in my Informix version? There are no help from Inf.Sup. because I have old software. I will soon change AIX to 4.3 and Informix to 7.3. Hope you will have some useful informations for me.
